I started Flying Daisies because I wanted to create a brand that expressed my love of life and my passion for exploring creativity. In nurturing my entrepreneurial spirit, I’ve strived to develop a compelling brand and online shop to showcase unique products that will inspire others to explore their own free-spirited path. It’s about finding your carefree. The Flying Daisies story is the compass that guides my vision and direction.

My ultimate goal in starting this business is to nourish and invigorate my creativity through developing or finding original designs. Like the Flying Daisies brand story, my life journey is about adventure, openly and eagerly seeking the paths that most inspire my own imagination.

To satisfy the tactical demands of running a business, I draw upon 20 years of corporate experience in the apparel and sports & fitness industries. During that time, I was immersed in product management, product development, brand marketing and advertising in the apparel and outdoor industries, while working for companies such as Nike, Kelty, GoLite and Spyder Active Sports. In working with some of the best designers, fabric and material manufacturers, factories, salespeople, retailers, and a wide range of consumers, I developed a solid understanding of the many facets of building a business that caters to its customer’s needs and desires.

Combining my entrepreneurial spirit, creative drive, resourcefulness and skills empowered me to step away from the corporate world and find my new destiny. Flying Daisies was born!

I am most at home when I am in the trenches of developing new products. I truly get energized and excited when I’m out looking at new fabrics and materials, finding new combinations of gemstone colors and researching new ideas for blends of natural and organic oils for my homemade soaps. Bringing beautiful products to life is my passion. My goal is to produce a product that inspires you and becomes your favorite piece. I continually strive to create an online shop that is fun to explore, and full of treasures that ignite smiles, hopefulness and inner beauty.

I also love breaking rules, like pulling together materials fabrics and patterns that contrast yet harmonize to generate a fresh and original product; for example, check out my handbags. Ultimately, Flying Daisies is always about the consumer – listening to your passions, interests and endeavors, and inspiring you to follow your dreams.

Working with other people and groups who also embrace and live the Flying Daisies story is a vital part of my vision. Flying Daisies supports groups and individuals who are navigating through their own creative exploration, from local Colorado artists to third world Fair Trade programs.

Every product within Flying Daisies has a story behind it. I hope to continue to grow and evolve Flying Daisies, building the brand with more special products that inspire and delight.

Krista Torvik, Public Relations

Krista serves as an independent public relations representative for Flying Daisies and plays a major role in connecting Flying Daisies with our customers and the media. Her experience stems from more than 10 years of agency & in-house public relations positions. Krista has a passion for writing and thoroughly enjoys helping to tell the Flying Daisies story to the public.

Flying Daisies Sewing Group

The sewing group is made up of a variety of women. These ladies love to sew. They come from years of experience and have backgrounds that stem from many different textile industries. Mereydth, for example, has been sewing since she was 4, with her mom being a major influence, establishing her skills and passion for sewing. The love for creation is their common thread. Their essential skills and devotion to high quality make them a perfect match and integral part of the Flying Daisies team. The Flying Daisies sewing team consists of Meredyth, Joanne, Betty and Tracie. These ladies are an awesome group, and they are responsible for sewing all of Flying Daisies fashionable handbags.

Azizi Life

Flying Daisies has joined forces with Azizi Life in Southern Rwanda in an effort to contribute beyond just bringing African products to market. The mission of Azizi Life is to strengthen the local communities by promoting local enterprise and supporting fair wage within Southern Rwanda rural neighborhoods. The artisan’s work is quite amazing and of the highest quality, and their program mirrors the Flying Daisies brand attributes. We really enjoy working with this group and anticipate continuing our support of Azizi Life and their initiative.
